(NOTE: The message that Karen posted for our www.CityByCityPrayer.org email on Monday, was so powerful, we felt to share it with our Destiny Builders Ministries contacts as well. For those that are on both lists, we apologize for this repeated content.)
Stay Over the Target!
DON'T BACK DOWN The Bible instructs us not to grow weary in doing what He has called us to do. It is followed by the encouragement that in due season we will reap if we faint not. Many have felt like fainting as the battles you are facing seem unrelenting. If that is you, I encourage you, don’t back down! If we look back through the Bible, we can see a pattern that the more intense the battle/spiritual warfare, it is an indicator that not only are you right over the target, but breakthrough is near—if you don’t quit. The Old Testament accounts give us a great first hand view of that principle how God can and does intervene in our lives. Over and over in those accounts, we see that people who put their trust in God, came out on top—against all odds. And it was always because of the God factor.
- Elijah vs Jezebel
- Nehemiah vs Sanballot
- Mordecai vs Hamon
- David vs Goliath
- David vs King Saul
What did all of those scenarios have in common? The Enemy wanted to destroy them! They weren’t small battles, but intense life and death battles. Now take a moment and think of any present day “David and Goliath” battles that you have witnessed that were won in your own life or in your community. Remember, God has never stopped intervening in the lives of His people who put their trust in Him! So what are you facing today? Or what about your children? What area seems to be insurmountable and make you feel like fainting? Because the Word says you WILL reap if you faint not! OUR EXPERIENCE Years ago, there was a time when my husband and I were facing possible bankruptcy due to a business deal that had gone south. An individual who had sold us some properties, didn’t fulfill his side of the contract. It resulted in a negative and irreparable cash flow, that was draining our finances. For two years we kept things afloat as the man insisted he would make it right. But he never did. And as we waited the situation had grown desperate. As we sought counsel, on the outward, we were told there was no hope for the wrong to be righted legally due to a contract loophole. But as we prayed, God said otherwise. So we chose to trust that God would deliver us. I’m not gonna lie. It was incredibly hard and pushed our faith and stamina to the limits. In the natural we were going to have to file bankruptcy due to what this man had done. Week after week, just staying afloat and paying bills felt overwhelming. But we continued to pray and declare God’s Word, often in tears, even as we sought legal mediation. In the end, and despite the fact we had been told by several that turnaround was impossible, the situation completely reversed! The man had to make compensation for not fulfilling his side of the contract! And in a moment, what had been an overwhelming battle, was over! DO YOU HAVE A RED SEA CHALLENGE FACING YOU? Remember Moses and the Israelites? God raised Moses up to lead them out of slavery. Moses with his rod against Pharaoh. It was laughable in the natural. Who was Moses after all? The more he went before Pharaoh, the more intense the situation got to the point that his own people wanted him to stop! Why? Because they were looking with natural eyes, while Moses was hearing from the Spirit how to press in. Make no mistake, there were times Moses wanted to stop! But thank God he didn’t. Even after the Israelites were released, they faced the most intense battle yet—the Red Sea before them and Pharaoh’s army behind them. It was the epitome of an impossible situation. But God. Are you up against the Red Sea one way and an enemy the other? Remember God intervened. The water parted and they marched across ON DRY GROUND to the other side. When Pharaoh’s army tried to pursue them—the water came down and completely destroyed them.
What Pharaoh intended to do to Moses, happened to Egypt and his army. That’s what happens when God fights for us. The battle you are facing—those who are pursuing you, attacking you or mocking you—have no idea that if you won’t give up—God will intervene. Because while they think they can overcome you, they have no idea they are battling Him! If you won’t stop, God will part YOUR Red Sea so that you can walk across to the other side. Natural battles, when we are trusting God and following His ways, have supernatural interventions available, if we won’t grow weary and give up. And then, just as our situation years ago—in an instant, it was resolved. For Moses and the Israelites, in a moment, it changed as the waters came crashing down on those pursuing them. Don’t let the battle overwhelm you. Remember who battles for you.
Father, I declare You are King and Lord over my life, my family, and my city, state and nation. I will not stop declaring that truth! Instead, I declare that the natural circumstances and battle that has risen up against me must align with Your Word. Greater is He that is within us than he that is in the world!
I refuse to be moved by what I see in the natural, but declare that it is temporary and subject to change! I speak to that mountain (name that mountain or giant that is standing in your way) and declare your assignment is over! You are defeated! I command you to be cast into the sea. You will not overwhelm me or overcome, for this battle is the Lord’s and He is fighting for me.
Thank you Lord that nothing is too difficult for You! Satan I put you in remembrance that you are a defeated foe. The same God that delivered Moses and the Israelites from Pharaoh, David and the Israelites from Goliath, the Jews from Hamon, Elijah from Jezebel, will deliver me and my family!
Lord, You said we are blessed when we persevere under trials because, having stood the test, we will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love You. Give us strength to persevere knowing that You are going before us to prepare the way that we should go. You said You would subdue nations before us, disarm kings, and open doors and gates that have been shut. That You will go before us to level the mountains; break down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron. You will give us the treasures of darkness and the riches hidden in secret places, so that we, and all watching, may know that You are the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls us by name.
And so I declare this battle is won and stand on Your Word that we will see Your deliverance. That You are making a river in the desert and a roadway in the wilderness and we will walk in the victory!
