I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea" (Revelation 1:10-11 NKJV).

      For John to be “in the Spirit” was for him to be in the spiritual realm. This is also sometimes referred to as the “kingdom of heaven.” This is where spiritual beings and landscapes become more real to us than those in the natural realm. When we start to see angels and other spiritual beings, it is usually because we are entering their realm, rather than them entering ours.

      It is possible for all who have been born again by the Spirit to begin to experience this realm, become more comfortable in it, and begin to grow up into their new creation nature. As we do this, we become more spiritual than natural and more at home in the Spirit than we are in the natural.

      It was in this realm where I experienced the things I wrote about in The Final Quest Trilogy. When I had these experiences, it was like living in two different worlds. I was caught up in the Spirit for several hours a day, often for several days in a row. Altogether, these took place over years.
