The only thing we really have is the present. Is that not why He said His name is I AM, not I WAS or I WILL BE? We only have today, so let’s make it a masterpiece of worship and devotion to Him, learning of Him and walking with Him every day.
Have you noticed that the more advanced the world becomes, the shakier it gets? It is appropriate to be thankful for modern conveniences, like the ability to travel far and fast and to communicate almost instantly anywhere in the world. However, we must not put our faith in them but in the Lord. At the end of this age, all that men have done without God is going to be shaken, and only that which is built on His kingdom will remain. This is not because God is against what man builds, but if it is not built with God, as awesome as it may seem, it has not been built very well. He builds things so that they remain, and the main thing He is building is people who will remain forever.
It’s not that God is offended by all of our nice stuff. He intends to help us build much nicer stuff in His kingdom, and it will not be so fragile because He will build it with us. I was shown a few years ago how much my impatience had robbed me of seeing miracles He wanted to use me for and divine connections He wanted me to make that would have borne much fruit for the Lord. I was shocked at how much of doing His will I had missed, and a main devotion I have is to change this by being changed myself.
He also showed me how not having patience when teaching—not using the repetition necessary for people to retain what was taught—had kept these teachings from bearing the fruit they could have. At the time, I thought I was using too much repetition, but I needed to use more. This is what led to me teaching the series I am now doing on “The Whole Message of This Life.” This will be the deepest, broadest, and highest teaching I have ever done and may ever get to do. I am seeking to be as patient with it as is necessary for it to actually change those who hear it, not just keep them interested in the meetings. I now know that only those who have the heart and patience to get all they can from His Word will get it anyway, and these are the ones with whom He wants to build.
It’s interesting that as I am now in the sunset time of my life, the recent encounters I’ve had with the Lord have caused me to slow down, take my time, and do things right. I’m learning to do what was one of the hardest things for me to do—wait on the Lord. The patience this has resulted in has enabled me to soar higher than I have before with Him and to convey what I’m being shown in a more fruitful way.
The pruning of MorningStar is also starting to bear fruit. We have had to reduce the staff by nearly half, but we are accomplishing more. The restructuring of MorningStar has been painful, but it will no doubt result in a much more effective ministry. Wait and see.
As we’re promised in Hebrews 12, shaking comes so that we can know which things can be shaken. What cannot be shaken will be revealed as what has been built on the kingdom. I’m confident we are already much stronger and much more prepared for what we are called to do and be. We will need this for the coming harvest that will soon be upon us. Strengthen your foundations every chance you get.
In His Service,
